I started Soft Strength in September 2023 on a strong (insistent) recommendation, and I continue because it feels to me that this is what’s going to protect me from breaking a hip and this is what is teaching me, my brain and my body how to get up off of the floor after I have played with my grandchildren. Carrie is knowledgeable — she knows her stuff! Carrie is welcoming, attentive, responsive, and kind. Finding Carrie and New Moon Mindful Movement was the best thing I could do for myself as I started my retirement. This has made all the difference. P.S. Soft Strength saved my vacation! Carrie often jokes that being able to do peak poses in a traditional yoga class won't help you when you slip on ice on the way out to your car. Well, I didn't slip on ice; I was running through the airport terminal to catch a flight and tripped on my shoelaces. The extended range of motion and core strength from Soft Strength prevented anything more severe than a bruised ego!

Carrie’s classes infuse traditional yogic thinking with the mechanics and science of physical movement. This has meant becoming aware of the “adjustments” my body has made over time in response to lots of sitting and other emotional and/or physical demands in my life, and then learning how to engage in fundamental human movements that will appropriately challenge or support those “adjustments.” Carrie’s instruction is practical and thoughtful; there’s always time for reflection on specific conditions and discussion about implementation. Great class, and an inspiring instructor.
